We launched a shop on Etsy earlier this week! One of our goals is to start a business together, and we finally started getting the ball rolling. Our shop is called xMdrn, which is an extension to Modern Minimalists. The Etsy shop is our starting point to handle the main logistics. We are definitely looking into extending the shop to this site in the near future.
xMdrn is based on things we like. Our first two stickers are based on Nancy’s personal favorites; Louis Vuitton and Disney. Why not make stickers out of those interests? We’re selling stickers as a starting point. Eventually, we will expand the shop to offer a better variety of products. PS. If you’re looking for professional cybersecurity consultation for your site, business, or personal dealings, we’re both great candidates for professional expertise~
We’ve been through the drawing board several times for business ideas. Issues involved the frequency of someone potentially buying a product. We didn’t want to immediately limit ourselves to something that people would buy once per year. You can never have too many stickers – there’s always room for a couple of ours! The key is to be persistent, and take that leap of faith if your gut feeling is there. Start small and build your way from there! The road has its ups and downs. You grow through what you go to.
We wanted to make the experience special all around. Instead of choosing regular flat mail envelopes, we decided to invest in kraft envelopes (thanks to Eena’s suggestion). Kraft envelopes are more durable than traditional envelopes, and they’re eco-friendly, where they decompose within weeks and can be recycled in new packaging. We keep things simple and effective. All of this process is still new to us. We’re even learning how to put together an accounting spreadsheet for accounts payable and receivable.
For now, we’re limiting sales to the United States to make things easy from a tax perspective. We’re not too sure about international customs fees, so we will need to spend some time reviewing the terms to avoid getting in trouble. There is still a lot for us to learn, especially from a marketing perspective. We want to be effective with how we communicate our shop, as well as taking the right pictures. The stickers went through several photoshoots, from simple backgrounds to floral ones. Might as well take advantage of the floral arrangement Mario delivered on Valentine’s Day!
Thank you for your support! Hyping us up, sharing our listings, or even making a purchase makes our day. We’re excited to go through this journey and hope you’ll join us for the ride.
Nancy drew up a Louis Vuitton Alma Monogram handbag and turned it into a few stickers. We’re planning to launch a limited release for immediate purchase on Monday, February 22, 2021. This post will be updated with the link once it is released~
